BRVP's Story
Blue Ridge Venture Pathways (BRVP) was founded by Ahmad Hasan-Aamir and Matthew Griff, two UVA undergraduates with longstanding ties to the Charlottesville-Albemarle region. Initially, Ahmad and Matt planned to pursue hands-on business internships to better understand the inner workings of early-stage companies. So, the pair turned to local organizations in hopes of finding impact-oriented roles at early-stage startups. Unfortunately, the fragmentation in Charlottesville’s venture ecosystem made this a daunting task. This problem only emboldened Ahmad and Matt, who were determined to make their mark on the community.
Consequently, BRVP was born. Its founders envisioned a cohesive venture ecosystem that united students and startups to unlock central Virginia’s immense economic potential. Accordingly, BRVP’s current focus is the establishment of a pipeline connecting UVA’s undergraduate talent to growing Charlottesville startups. Indeed, many stakeholders in the region identified a talent shortage as local startups’ single most pressing issue.
What’s more pressing, however, is community engagement; BRVP can’t do this alone! If you’re interested in enhancing central Virginia’s economic development, please reach out: blueridgevp.com/contact-us
